ACET, part of IDP, is seeking to recruit one Assistant Directors of Studies in Hanoi

Position: Assistant Director of Studies
Line Report: Director of Studies
Working Location: Hanoi


This is an exciting opportunity at a leading EAP and IELTS provider for diploma-qualified TEFL professionals to display and develop their skills, experience and knowledge in a full-time academic management
role that includes course and material development, teacher support and continuing professional development, as well as teaching young learners and adults in Academic English and IELTS Preparation courses.

Academic Management City level

  • Run induction sessions for all new teachers 
  • Assist the DoS with communication between ACET and the teaching team
  • Conduct teacher observations – observe and give feedback to teachers, conduct appraisals, and offer support and advice.
  • Conduct in-service training (INSET) sessions in the form of teacher development workshops 
  • Maintain and monitor teacher professionalism, and report any problems to the DoS
  • Arrange mentoring for teachers new to a level, and act as a mentor to new teachers and teachers new to a level as needed
  • Assist in the development, organization, and filling of supplementary materials, ensuring that duplicate/identical materials are available at all teaching centres

Administrative City level 

  • Assist with student placement testing 
  • Liaise with teachers and counselors on student matters
  • Deal with student feedback and filter and report it to the DoS as appropriate.
  • Placement Test as required ther duties
  • Perform other tasks requested by the line manager

Products Development City level

  • Collate teacher feedback and liaise with DOS regarding any curriculum change
  • Liaise with teachers to monitor end of term exam results, reporting any problems to the DOS
  • Conduct projects assigned by DOS

Teaching hours

  • This is dependent on the time of year and minimum 12 hours per week


  • An undergraduate degree from a recognised university 
  • An internationally recognised English language teaching qualification (e.g. CELTA, or equivalent) 
  • 3+ years ELT/TESOL teaching experience at reputable institutions
  • Experience in teaching English for Academic Purposes (EAP) and/or IELTS preparatory classes 
  • A postgraduate ELT/TESOL qualification, such as Cambridge DELTA Level 02, Cambridge IDLTM or a Master’s degree in ELT/TESOL (or in process) 
  • Thorough understanding of the role of culture in language learning
  • ELT experience in Vietnam or Asia 
  • Experience in teaching Academic English / Young Learners / Teens


  • KPI bonus up to 01 month of gross salary
  • 20 annual paid leaves
